Success – the right fit

It has taken me many years to realise that happiness precedes success. The only way we can ever feel successful is if we have taken the time to understand who we are, what we want and what the ‘right fit’ of success is for us. We cannot live someone else’s idea of success and expect to feel successful. Experience shows me that there are many successful people out there who feel empty, feel as if something is missing. Most of them have defined success by how much money they earn, the car they drive, the house they live in, the assets they have accumulated. Success starts to look like an expensive shopping list. Where is the feeling, the meaning, the happiness? What have they had to sacrifice? Through my workshops I offer individuals the opportunity to prioritise 7 life dimensions and start the process of value recognition in order to figure out their unique definition of success.

  7 successful actions

1. Define what SUCCESS means to you – The SPIRIT of SUCCESS

Success is derived from the Latin word Succedere, meaning “to go on well”. This implies that it is a journey rather than a destination.

  • What is your definition of success?
  • When do you know you are successful?
  •  What does success feel like?

How do you view success?

  • Does your definition of success sound like a shopping list?
  • Do you FEEL successful?
  • What are your conditions for success?

2. Become your 1st creation

Begin with the end in mind. All who create something beautiful and sustainable have a vision first. YOU must hold the 1st creation for your life. What does your ‘bill board’ say and look like?

“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”                                                                                                Jim Rohn

 3. Play to your strengths – The HEART of SUCCESS

 What do you love doing?

What energises you?

What are you doing when time passes quickly?

What do you value?

What do you get recognition and praise for?

 4. Question limiting beliefs – The figure/ground concept

Figure – Occupies the foreground of your interest right now. The task you are engaged with right now – it is whatever is taking your attention now.

Ground –  All the things that comprise our background. The way we see the world, act in the world, your habits, the way you construct your reality – some conscious, some not.

We see things not as they are but, as we are.

The Ground provides the framework (Frame of Reference) for how we deal with things and view new figures. If your ground is saying that you do not believe you can talk in front of a group of people, you will deal with your figures from this frame of reference.

The law of perception is, you see what you want. Your eyes do the seeing, but it is your mind that decides what to focus on – you see what your mind is looking for. You see your thoughts.

Learning and change, therefore, have to do with changing the ground, not just the figure, otherwise you will have to keep going through the same learning on the figure level. Although we have to deal with today’s issue we need to look deeper and ascertain why they are happening. Start asking yourself some of the hard questions that are holding you back from success.

5. Have goals

 Spiritual:                     About your true purpose.

Character:                  Realising your true potential/s
